Störling Dance Theater started in 1996 when Mona and her husband, Jeremiah, moved to Kansas City from Sweden where they had been soloists in artistic leaders in Eternia Dans Teater.  Mona, born and raised in Finland studied painting and eventually dance.  She started her first professional dance company at the age of 18 in Helsinki and immediately began receiving accolades for her choreographic invention.  Training during the summers at the Paris Opera, Mona was able to merge her unique artistic aesthetic with education from some of the world’s top dance leaders.

Störling is an eclectic gathering of dancers who come from a variety of dance backgrounds with ballet as a base. Their work is both an exploration of movement as well as in-depth character studies. Störling’s senior company members have spent years working on the craftsmanship to refine their skills in seeing the body move with all of its capacity while being able to express the deepest of human experience. The artistry of Störling is enhanced by the unique qualities of each artist.
